Video Diary | Narrowboat Vlog | Sun 24 Jan It snowed!!! It snowed pretty much all day so we stayed home. Glenn chopped some wood for the fire and then lifted the kitchen floor to replace a couple of broken flooring. He was really concerned to see water in the bilge.
Video Diary | Narrowboat Vlog | Mon 25 Jan We wake up to find the canal had frozen and we had ice on the inside of the window! I decide to make Stollen to use up some store cupboard ingredients. I ring my mum and can’t get an answer, I start to worry but fortunately, everything was ok! A CRT workboat passes by and breaks the ice. Glenn gets the car stuck and after much pushing we admit defeat and Jeff comes to our rescue. The stollen takes much more effort than I originally thought, I end up by cutting corners and shoving the whole thing in the oven.
Video Diary | Narrowboat Vlog | Tues 26 Jan I didn’t film much today but what I did revolves around food! We started the day with a coffee and a slice of ’Stollen’. It was nothing like what it was supposed to be but was the perfect pairing to our morning coffee. Later in the day, we return to Tring for another walk around the town, this time we head up to the National History Museum – I can’t wait till it reopens and we can take a look around. On our way out of the town, we stop and buy a coffee and the best sausage roll I HAVE EVER TASTED! We will be definitely returning there! In the evening we have a Chinese Meal in a bag from Waitrose.
Video Diary | Narrowboat Vlog | Wed 27 Jan Glenn gets up super early to go to work with Jeff, he travels in a low loader to deliver dumper trucks to the north of England while I visit my mum. I put up some new curtains at mums, and go and get fish and chips for lunch. I pick up some flowers to drop off at Mirimar’s. I had forgotten to pick the Hello Fresh meals so we get a random selection.
Video Diary | Narrowboat Vlog | Thur 28 Jan We start the day the right way, with a delicious bacon and avocado sandwich, before Glenn heads off to the office. I stay at the boat working and I am very excited that the Lingovie cards are going to print. Glenn calls to say that Grove Lock has flooded and water is all over the road. I head out for a walk but the towpath is super muddy so I cut my walk short. Glenn comes home with a surprise afternoon tea for two which is a birthday gift from Debbie, my sister in law.
Video Diary | Narrowboat Vlog | Fri 29 Jan 50!!!! I celebrate my 50th Birthday in lockdown but I don’t need to worry as it is jam-packed full of laughter, gifts, virtual birthday wishes and doughnuts. It was a perfect day and I felt loved! I am ok with turning 50, to be honest, I feel so lucky to be alive. Does that sound a bit dramatic, maybe, but with everything going on in the world I can’t help but feel grateful for being safe and well.
Video Diary | Narrowboat Vlog | Sat 30 Jan My birthday celebrations continue as I open a lovely hamper from Jeff and Sally. Glenn makes some cheese and bacon turnovers and the weather is so awful we stay in all day. We share some very sad news, 99-year-old Vena passed away this week, we send love to Keith and his family.
