We had been forecast heavy snow during the night but we woke up in the morning to none! But it was freezing and very windy out there. We take a stroll down to the new lock gates and see that some of the gates have already been replaced. I cook a huge roast dinner while listening to one of my favourite podcasts. After dinner I beat Glenn 3-0 at Sequence.

Glenn was offered some work by our friend Sally today, she is a funeral director and she needed an extra person to be a pallbearer. He was nervous about the role but need not have worried as everything went to plan and he was back in the car and on his way back to the boat before he knew it!

I went for a snowy walk along the towpath, the mud was frozen and it was much easier to walk on. I got a call from Mirimar who asked me to meet her at the gate, my birthday present had arrived and it was a beautiful bird feeder made from a teapot. I was so happy with it!

Halfway through making dinner I stop for the launch of Ep 3 of Vloggl https://youtu.be/z-ontwzSPis

I wake up and feel like taking over the world, Glenn asked if I was intending do so in my PJ’s and slippers so I decide to get dressed! Glenn heads to the office and does all the boat jobs on the way.

At the office Glenn has 3 interesting bits of post, the first an oximeter, then a wheelbarrow wheel and last but not least, some bumper stops.

I head out for a walk and the snow really starts coming down. I noticed that the work at the lock is nearing completion.

Glenn returns to the boat with delicious food for dinner and I make some sausage roll and contemplate that life is good despite lockdown and the freezing weather.

It’s Fish n Chip Wednesday! We head off to my mums with the sequence game in my bag. Mum has been plagued with a draught and it was driving her mad. Glenn fixed some velcro tape on the wall the did the job.

I head up to the chippy to get our lunch – the fish was superb. After lunch we taught mum how to play sequence, she really enjoyed it.

We head back to the boat and take a look at what is in our Hello Fresh box. All the meals hit the spot. We are thinking of trying a different meal service just for a change.

Glenn puts his bumpers on the barrier next to the boat. I am interested to see if they work better then fenders.

We wake up to a frozen canal. Glenn takes his mum for her first Covid Jab and I go for a walk along the towpath to Slapton, the path was frozen so it made walking easier. At the lock I saw a GRP fibreglass boat making its way down through a lock. As I walked further down the canal I spot a row of icicles on a lock which looked beautiful.

The tap where we fill our water up from had frozen, so I was being super cautious about the water I was using. Later in the afternoon, Glenn try the tap and sees it had thawed. We rush to fill up the water but the hosepipe had frozen – we defrost that and finally get to fill up the tank.

For dinner I cook a Mexican Chicken Cheese Burger from Hello Fresh, it was delicious.

Another frosty start to the day! We speak to Serena from Tiggers Mum Youtube Channel on our Friday Live Stream Podcast interview and she shares her story about living off grid in a tiny home. It was a fascinating insight. You can check out Serena’ channel and her Etsy Shop here

Later in the day the generator stops working while Glenn is hoovering. He checks the oil and it starts again!

I was going to go out for a walk but it was so cold I decide to stay in! We cook a quick, easy and delicious Hello Fresh meal for dinner, Spicy Beef Penne Pasta.

In the evening we play Sequence with Dave and Louise from NB Changing Pace, we weren’t sure it was going to work playing over the internet but it did – Me and Dave won by a landslide.

We are up and out early this morning. We head to Northampton to help Debbie with deliveries. We have a drama almost immediately when the old van was unable to be unlocked. I think we woke the whole street up with the van alarm going off every couple of minutes. Glenn tries his best to break into the van as he had done before but to no avail. We head off in another van and had a nice ride out to the villages, delivering flowers, before heading back into Northampton town centre. Glenn has one more go at breaking into the van but before he does he checks the key and realises it needs soldering.

We head back to the boat, stopping for lunch at the bottom lock of Stoke Bruerne.
