Video Diary | Narrowboat Vlog | Sun 15 Feb

It is an early start for us as we head to Northampton to deliver flowers. Glenn offered to buy me a takeaway but I said I would rather cook at home. Glenn had seen Valentine’s Dinner from Morrisons advertised on the TV. I thought they would have sold out but we were lucky and Glenn picked up the Beef Wellington and some other deliciousness. We return to the boat and Glenns breaks up some large sheets of ice that are travelling down the canal in the wind. They are like icebergs!!! I activate my Ancestry DNA kit that I got for Christmas and get that ready for Glenn to send off in the post on Monday. I cook the Beef Wellington and it is absolutely delicious. Video Diary | Narrowboat Vlog | Mon 15 Feb Glenn heads to the office to do some despatches and then goes to pick up our new car. I get a video call from our granddaughter who has learnt to ride her new bike. Glenn calls me to say there is something wrong with the new car but the seller has agreed to give Glenn his money back. For dinner, we cook a Hello Fresh meal of sausage meatballs and pasta. It was delicious. Recipe https://fave.co/3dcxybw

Video Diary | Narrowboat Vlog | Tues 16 Feb Jules Fuels are a welcome visitor as they stop off and replenish our stocks of coal, logs, kindling, diesel and gas bottle. I see a Tawny Owl flying around the field, and I am amazed as I thought owls only came out at night! Video Diary | Narrowboat Vlog | Wed 17 Feb Before heading over to Wellingborough to see my mum we go to pick up the gold van from the garage. Glenn wants to take it for a couple of days to see if he can diagnose a problem. The van is running really rough but we decide to give it a go! We pop to the office to pick up some post before heading over to my mums. At my mums, we break from our normal routine and have chicken and chips instead of fish and chips. We pick up our Hello Fresh box and head back to the boat. It is Vena’s funeral and we watch the service online. It was such a privilege to find out more about Vena’s life.

Video Diary | Narrowboat Vlog | Thur 18 Feb I spend the day working while Glenn goes to MK to pick up a pallet he had got for free. I take a walk in the afternoon. We cook Hello Fresh Colcannon Cottage Pie https://fave.co/3uanBS5

Video Diary | Narrowboat Vlog | Fri 19 Feb We start the day with our live stream broadcast of Narrowboat Stories with Canice Bannon. Check out Canice’s channel here (it is excellent viewing) https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeKI… We then head to the Ashridge Estate for a walk with Mirimar. It was so good to catch up with my friend – even though it was really muddy. For dinner we make BBQ Chicken and Blackbean Loaded Wedges. It was a perfect Friday night dinner! Check out the recipe here https://fave.co/2NnVQEW

Video Diary | Narrowboat Vlog | Sat 20 Feb Glenn starts the day by cleaning out the well deck. There is a rumour that the governments plan to release us from lockdown will start with businesses opening up in March but we won’t be able to meet with family or friends outside until Good Friday, and we won’t be able to meet with them inside until June! This just seems so far away, I can not bear the thought of not seeing my grandchildren and giving them a hug for that long.

Ep 423 Not the Start of the Year I’d Planned

This week wasn’t quite the one I had in mind. It started with a much-needed breath of fresh air on the Cornish coast, but then took a few unexpected turns, forcing a slowdown and a day-at-a-time approach. We eased back into work after the Christmas break, found...

Ep 417 Totnes Lights, Charity Shop Treasure & Winter Wanders | Weekly Vlog | 28 Nov 2025

The weather took a definite turn this week, so I leaned into slower days, creative moments, and gentle adventures close to home. One very wet day called for staying indoors. I baked, pottered, and watched old episodes of Bridgerton. It felt like exactly the right...
