This week began with a fresh haircut, and I absolutely love it. Glenn is secretly relieved too, as it means he is officially off hairdressing duty for a while. I also had a lucky visit to a charity shop and came home with some great finds. Later, I headed to Dartmouth to meet Glenn from work, only to discover a lantern parade was underway. Such a lovely surprise, with a wonderful atmosphere that felt completely unexpected.

Sunday was gentle and easy. We spent the morning tidying the flat and getting everything ready to put up the Christmas tree. Glenn surprised me with my Christmas present, a Clarins advent calendar, and I was absolutely delighted. Later, we took a walk along the river and popped into Morrisons for a few bits for dinner. Nothing fancy. Just a really lovely day.

On Monday, we headed to Morrisons first thing to buy our Christmas tree. We were delighted to discover they are grown locally by Dartmoor Christmas Trees. We picked an absolute beauty. I spent the afternoon decorating while the rain hammered down outside. It was torrential, and the windows even began to leak. Not ideal, but the twinkly lights on the tree made everything feel a bit more cheerful.

Tuesday brought the first of the Totnes Christmas markets, and the whole town was buzzing. I managed to pick up a few more Christmas gifts, and we treated ourselves to some delicious food. The air was filled with the scent of mulled wine and spices. After wandering through the crowds, it was lovely to come back to the flat. I could sit by the window and watch the scene unfold below. Our very own Christmas view over Totnes.

Midweek started with Zumba, which always lifts my spirits, followed by my sewing class. My jacket is so close to being finished now, and it is really starting to come together. Later, we took a seaside walk under a bright full moon. The tide was high, and the beach huts were all tucked away for winter. Back at home, I made a huge toad in the hole for dinner. I received a very respectable eight and a half out of ten from Mr Warner.

Thursday was a full workday for both of us. I managed to nip across to the market. I picked up some delicious brownies. Our advent calendars brought a smile, too. Glenn had Parma Violets, my favourite, and my Clarins calendar revealed a foaming facial cleanser. Dinner was quick and easy. It still earned an eight out of ten. I was more than happy with that.

Friday was dominated by relentless rain from morning to night. The highlight of the day was finally finishing my jacket, or almost finishing it. Just the hem left now. In the afternoon, I headed to my charity shop shift, which was lovely as always. The Christmas cards didn’t get posted, but some days you just can’t do it all.
