This week was full of small adventures and creative moments. Train journeys, dressmaking joy, sweet treats, and quieter evenings at home all found their place. There was plenty of rain, but also lots of warmth and satisfaction in the everyday.

The week began with a solo train trip to Okehampton. I walked along the Granite Way towards Meldon Viaduct, and it really is an incredible piece of engineering. Later, Glenn picked me up and we escaped the long winter evening with a trip to Torquay. It was busy, but we managed to grab the last table. A couple of cocktails and a very good burger made it well worth it before heading back home to Totnes.

Sunday was grey and wet. I walked down to the war memorial in Totnes to observe the two-minute silence for Remembrance Sunday, while Glenn watched the parade in Brixham. Later, I popped into the new arts centre opposite the flat, then spent the afternoon crafting and baking. My ginger cake turned out perfectly, which felt like a small win on a rainy day.

Monday was a real highlight. My dressmaking course brought pure joy, and I honestly wished I could spend every day learning to sew. Just a few doors down is a brilliant sewing shop, so I took my pattern in and chose some lovely fabric. I spent the day learning how to make a long waistcoat jacket and loved every minute of it.

Tuesday was a full workday, but we still made time for Sweet of the Week. This time, Cranch’s chose Pineapple Rock for us. A proper retro sweet and a definite sugar hit, enjoyed in a quiet moment during the day.

Midweek, I hopped on another train, this time to Topsham with Kim. We explored the Quay Antiques Centre, wandered through charity shops, and treated ourselves to coffee and cake. One of those relaxed, chatty days that pass far too quickly.

Thursday was a workday for both of us, but I made sure to fit in walks before and after work. Totnes is beginning to look more festive by the day, with shop windows starting to glow with early Christmas lights.

The week ended quietly. I sorted through a few kitchen cupboards, walked down to Morrisons, and did an afternoon shift at the charity shop, which I’m really enjoying. We’d planned to go out in the evening, but the rain had other ideas, so we stayed in instead and enjoyed a cosy night at home.
